'Intense, Fair and Passionate'
In this candid Fills in the Blanks, Scott Patterson of Gilmore Girls cooks us up some serious dish on everything from his secret rockstar fantasies to his guiltiest pleasures. Yum!
The best concert I ever attended was:
The 1987 U2 Joshua Tree concert, which was stunning. I thought I would never see a concert like it. I saw it in New York and also in Los Angeles.
If I could step into the shoes of a rock star for just one day, it would be:
Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam because he is somebody who, God bless him, has tried to make a difference. He's really trying to use the platform that he's achieved for social change. What is fame and entertainment for, but to help people?
The three words that best describe me are:
Intense, fair and passionate.
The one trait I most admire in my character is:
His steadfastness, his willingness to ride it out.
The one word or phrase I most overuse is:
Unbelievable.
My most treasured possession is:
My skis. I ski as much as I can. If I have a Friday off, I'll get on a plane and go to Utah and ski for the weekend.
My guiltiest pleasure is:
Skiing. It gets expensive, but it's worth it. You can only ski at a certain level for so long. And I want to take advantage of it while I'm young.
What I most love about acting is:
The connection with other actors and the unpredictability within the structure. In 10 different takes, you can do a scene 10 different ways. Capturing spontaneous moments is what it's all about.
----
On getting naked:
"Intimate [scenes] are pretty easy to do. They are so the opposite of intimate when there are fifty people in the room. There's no chance for shenanigans unless you are really stealthy."
On his off-camera life:
"I throw the best parties. Off the hook! People jumping in the pool with their clothes on. That kind of thing. I throw parties for no reason. Just because it's a happy Sunday."
On dating a girl like Lorelai slash Lauren in real life:
"I'm definitely game for a woman like her, the sparkling intelligence, the beauty, the laughing voice, and well, when she walks away from me, it ain't so bad either."
On the future of Gilmore Girls:
"I can't tell you what's going to happen... It is going to be a hot and heavy season! They give us just enough information to whet our appetites. If we ask questions we get locked up in a room and slapped on the hour."
On being an incorrigible flirt:
"What can I say? I get bored very easily."
